DEL MAR A TU MESA
On the Pacific shore of Guerrero, Mexico, there's a stretch of coast where the fish comes off the boat in the morning and onto the fire by afternoon. That coast is the Costa Chica, and it's where our kitchen was born.
We opened Costa Chica Bar & Grill to bring that shoreline to Muscatine: ceviche bright with lime, camarones a la diabla with real heat, whole fish kissed by the grill, and green pozole the way Guerrero has always made it. No shortcuts, no imitations, just the playa, plated.
Pull up a chair. The water's warm.
FRESH FROM THE COAST
Fresh oysters loaded with ceviche and pico, aguachile, and shrimp done a dozen ways, bright, citrusy, and straight off the Guerrero shoreline.FIRE & SMOKE
Carne asada, grilled shrimp and fish, all plated with rice, beans, and guacamole, the bar & grill half of our name, earned nightly.DRINKS & NOCHES
Ice-cold cervezas crowned with shrimp and ceviche, micheladas, margaritas, and the kind of nights that don't want to end. Stick around, it gets loud.
Raíces que no se rompen
Our roots trace back to the Costa Chica of Guerrero, homeland of the Tlapanec people, an indigenous nation whose land and traditions held strong even against the Aztec empire. That history is baked into everything we do: the salsas we build by hand, the instinct to cook over real wood fire, recipes that were being passed down long before anyone bothered writing them on paper.
Eat at Costa Chica and you're tasting a food tradition that simply never disappeared. We still make it the way it was handed to us.
CUANDO SE PONE EL SOL
When the kitchen winds down, the music comes up. Cumbia, banda, reggaetón, salsa, Costa Chica is bringing the only Latino dance club to Muscatine, with live DJs, dance nights, and special events all year.
